The idea started with an unexpectedscene in 21 Jump Street. Ice Cubelooks at the boys and says, “That’s Vietnamese Jesus.” Channing Tatumand Jonah Hill stand there clueless: comedy and confusion in perfect balance.
It was funny and completely out of leftfield, the epitome of a true diasporajoke. We treated the scenelike a quiet sermon.
And since it has been a while since we dropped something, this one felt like a rise. A small resurrection of who we are and why we make.
12AM runs on that same duo energy. Some days we are Channing and Jonah, chaotic but committed. Other days we are Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise, the original unlikely pair. But at our core, we are always Dustin Nguyen.
12AM is the religion. And this is a tribute to all our believers: our Pham, the Nguyen clan, the children of dust, the midnight crowd.
